XV Aniversario con una oferta de más de 100 actividades

En esta XV edición el público asistente pudo disfrutar de las explicaciones de más de 700 investigadores/as distribuidos en más de 100 talleres y actividades relacionadas con la ciencia y la tecnología. De esta manera, el Parc Científic UV cumple con uno de sus objetivos, la divulgación de la ciencia.

En esta edición volvemos al formato tradicional de jornada de puertas abiertas presencia, presentando actividades nuevas como las de la Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria, que permite jugar al tres en raya con un brazo robot mediante una cámara, BlueTooth y un algoritmo de inteligencia artificial (IA) para calcular movimientos. Por su parte, la Facultad de Ciencias Matemáticas ofrece el taller Stat Wars que acerca la ciencia de datos a la juventud, para que comprendan su creciente importancia.

En este nuevo formato de e-XPOCÈNCIA, adaptado a la nueva normalidad, se emitieron en directo, via streaming una serie de sesiones, con la presencia además, de alumnado y profesorado en el Auditorio Marie Curie. Las acciones de divulgación de la ciencia consistieron en: 5 jornadas dobles, 8 ponentes, la presentación Proyectos Natura y Experimenta TOP, una mesa redonda sobre iniciativas científicas en la enseñanza secundaria y la representación de la obra de teatro El teatro es pura química, la química es puro teatro.

206 centros de enseñanza inscritos y más de 4.700 estudiantes conectados a las sesiones en directo

Bajo un contexto de pandemia mundial, en 2020 el equipo de organización de Expociència tuvo reinventarse. Así nació e-XPOCIÈNCIA, una versión online de la fiesta de la ciencia y la tecnología donde fueron los profesionales del Parc Científic de la Universitat de València quienes se acercaron a su público, espcialmente al estudiantado de Secundaria y Bachillerato. A través de ocho charlas protagonizadas por personal del área científico-académica y empresarial del PCUV, los asistentes pudieron conocer cuestiones como cuáles son los materiales que nos permitirán conseguir eficiencia energética, para qué sirven los satélites o cuáles son los retos que presenta la medicina de precisión.

El colofón a la semana de sesiones en directo la protagonizó la obra de teatro El Teatro es pura Química, la Química es puro Teatro, cuyos interpretes son estudiantes de la Facultad de Química.

• The Science Park collaborated in the organization of the First National Congress of Social Responsibility and Cooperativism, held at the PCUV. It was inaugurated by the Conseller of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Commerce and Labor; the Conseller of Transparency, Social Responsibility, Participation and Cooperation; the Principal of the University of Valencia and the Mayor of Burjassot. Its speakers include specialists such as Hervé Falciani, a former HSBC bank informant who in 2008 leaked the data of thousands of fraudsters with accounts at the bank, and Ana Gascón, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Coca Cola, between others.

• The astronomer Ivan Martí revealed in the Science Park the details of the first photograph of a black hole, a milestone of which he was part of working in the ALMA telescope. The impact of this image is due not only to the enormous scientific importance that it carries, but also to the fascinating technological challenges that it has supposed to achieve.

• Würth Elektronik opened its first research and development center in Spain at the Science Park.

• The Marie Curie Auditorium hosted a colloquium between three Nobel Prizes, an event organized by the Science Park through the ICMol on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of this innovation ecosystem.

• The University of Valencia and the CSIC inaugurated on February 6 the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology. This institute focuses its research on the structure, function, dynamics, evolution and manipulation of complex biological systems, with an emphasis on the study of microorganism systems.

• The Science Park hosted in April the second meeting of Agroinncuba-CYTED, an international network for the creation and support of agri-food startups.

• The Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE) awarded the FPCUV for the PIDE (Business Development Boost Plan) project, a report resulting from the survey conducted in 2016 to companies and entities that were housed in its facilities. The purpose is to extract the main characteristics of their innovative profile at different economic levels.

• In December, the Principal of the University of Valencia, Mª Vicenta Mestre, presided for the first time the board of the FPCUV. This meeting approved the start-up of a Business Seedbed on the Tarongers Campus, a coworking space for innovative companies close to the Social Science research institutes of the University.

• The Valencian business sector, headed by the Valencia Business Confederation (CEV) board, and University government representatives met in July at the Science Park. The objective of the meeting was to enhance the rapprochement and collaboration between both organizations in favor of knowledge transfer, innovation and improvement of the productive fabric.

• La FPCUV published Guía para la Preparación de Propuestas 'Horizon 2020' and Kit de recursos para startups.

• A total of 18 entities signed the Paterna Local Pact for Innovation in the Science Park.

• The University of Valencia Science Park will be the future headquarters of the National Dosimetry Center, as agreed by the University of Valencia, the General Treasury of the Social Security and the National Institute of Health Management. The main function of this center is to carry out the individual monitoring of the doses received by personnel exposed to ionizing radiation in medical facilities of the National Health System and aims to guarantee the safety of health personnel.

• The Molecular Science Institute (ICMol) of the University of Valencia obtained accreditation as ‘María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence’. Founded in 2000, the scientific objectives of ICMol focus on fields such as the design and synthesis of functional molecules, supramolecular associations and molecular materials with physical or chemical properties of interest. The areas of application range from molecular magnetism and molecular electronics to nanotechnology and biomedicine.

• The Institute of Materials Science of the University of Valencia authenticated Sorolla's rigorous work in the sketches of ‘Vision of Spain’.

   

• The mayor of Valencia visited the Science Park in order to learn about the facilities and work dynamics of this ecosystem for innovation at the University of Valencia.

• Analog Devices, a reference company in the world of microelectronics, was installed in the Science Park attracted by the generation of knowledge in this environment.

   

• The Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC), a mixed center of the University of Valencia and the CSIC, obtained accreditation as ‘Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence’. The IFIC is a leader in experimental and theoretical research in particle physics, astroparticles and nuclear physics. The center participates in scientific collaborations around the world and, in particular, is involved in several experiments of the Large Hadron Collider of CERN.

• Google funded an Earth Observation project developed by the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyeria and the Image Processing Laboratory at the PCUV. This is the first time that the Google Earth Engine Awards have been awarded to a Spanish center.

• The world of basketball premiered the big data technology developed by the Nothingbutnet company, located in the Science Park Business Area.

• REPSOL and scientists from the University of Valencia sought to apply nanotechnology to the energy of the future. The Office of Transfer of Research Results (OTRI) organized a meeting between Science Park researchers and heads of R&D of the Repsol Technology Center in order to identify areas of collaboration within the framework of the Strategic Opportunities of Nanotechnology Applications (SONAR) project in Repsol, a strategic map for the identification of innovative applications from nanotechnology to the energy industry.

• 19 companies that implemented their activity within the newly opened Business Area of ​​the Science Park were recognized by the Vice Principal for Research and the FPCUV manager. Five years after its opening, this space of the Science Park has 88 signatures installed.

• Six Nobel Prizes attended the VLC Campus Meetings of Excellence held at the PCUV in June.

•  The Science Park convened the first edition of the VLC Campus Start-Up, a program that identified new innovative business initiatives. The beneficiary companies were Sequencing Multiplex, Xenobiotics, Q'omer Bioactive Ingredients, Breeze Group International, Neuropharmatest and Uvat-Bio. They were provided with a training program and corporate accommodation to facilitate the development of their projects.

• On November 3 the Science Park celebrated its 5th Anniversary. The event was attended by two leading experts in Innovation within the EU: José Manuel Leceta, director of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, and Román Arjona, economist responsible for the Directorate General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission.

• Companies of the Valencian chemical sector, grouped in the Chemical and Environmental Association of the Chemical Sector of the Valencian Community (QUIMACOVA), visited the Science Park in January and signed an agreement with the University of Valencia.

• The Science Park hosted the informative workshop on Horizon 2020 in the food sector, organized by the Spanish Federation of Food and Beverage Industries.

• The Palau de Cerveró hosted the First Innovation Week of the University of Valencia. It was a proposal of the Science Park and the Chair of Science Outreach aimed at creating debate on different aspects of the broad concept that is Innovation. The physicist Carlos Pobes was in charge of closing the program with a conference about his experience in Antarctica with the IceCube experiment.

• The Institute for Robotics Research and Information and Communication Technologies of the University of Valencia developed an augmented reality program for educational intervention in autism.
   

• The Science Park inaugurated 'Evomobile', an electric mobility living-lab recognized by CLIMATE-KIC as a model of good practices with the assistance of the Minister of Economy, Industry and Commerce and the rector of the University of Valencia. The project was funded by the Valencian Energy Agency (AVEN).

• The Institute of Genomic Medicine (IMEGEN), a company installed in the Science Park since 2009, was recognized as a spin-off of the University of Valencia.

• The FPCUV, together with different public and private entities, signed the Local Pact for Innovation of the Valencia City Council.

• In November, the First National Congress of Entrepreneurial Scientists was held at the Science Park with the assistance of the Secretary of State for Research and the Conselleria of Education. The meeting had more than 200 congressmen, 80 presentations and oral communications and more than 50 attending companies.

• The Business Seedbed of the Science Park was launched, a new office concept based on a coworking space that facilitates the implementation of entrepreneurial projects in the early stages of development.

• The PCUV coordinated the Network of Entrepreneurial Scientists with the support of VLC Campus. The objectives of this pioneering associative project are to promote the culture of entrepreneurship among scientists, develop a code of conduct of companies towards entrepreneurial scientists and promote their social recognition.

• Two years after its inauguration, the Business Area went from housing 19 companies to having more than 60 companies installed.

• The University of Valencia and Santander Bank signed an agreement on October 4 to promote entrepreneurial culture in the PCUV. Through its Santander Universities Global Division, the financial entity collaborates with the FPCUV in the development of a program of activities aimed both at promoting cooperation between research groups of the University and the business sector, as well as the creation of innovative companies and the implementation of spaces and infrastructures, in the PCUV facilities, for research and development of new technologies.

• The I International Meeting of Biotechnology of Comunitat Valenciana, organized by the Bio Cluster of this region (BIOVAL), gathered November 17 experts in the field of the US and Europe. In the partnering session, more than 50 meetings between companies were held. 

• The University of Valencia Science Park was awarded with the Economy 3 Prize in the Invest Research Leadership’s modality.

• Biopolis, spin-off of the CSIC, consolidates its development in the Science Park after being the first company that was located in the Business Area of the PCUV. 

• The implementation of the first spin-off of the University of Valencia begins at the Business Nursery of the Science Park.

• The Princes of Asturias inaugurated on September 4 University of Valencia Science Park, where a consolidated Scientific-Academic Area, then formed by 6 research institutes and 2 unique R&D centers, joined a new Business Area destined to support the genesis and development of innovative business activities with high scientific and technological content. Both make up what this innovation ecosystem will definitely be.

• Months earlier, on March 9, the University of Valencia Science Park Foundation had been established, a management organization to promote the transfer of knowledge from scientific research to the productive system. Its founding patrons were the University of Valencia, the Valencian Business Confederation (CEV), the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Valencia, the Santander Bank and the Bancaja Foundation.

• Previously, the 'I Capital and Science Encounter' was held, an investment forum promoted by the Science Park, through which a large group of knowledge-based companies were able to present their project, their business plan and their investment project to an audience formed mainly by investors, sector experts, development managers and other entrepreneurs.

• In May 2009, the first edition of Expociencia took place, the open day of the Science Park to inform Valencian society about the daily work of research institutes and companies located in the PCUV. Numerous activities were organized, some of a playful scientific nature, which pleasantly surprised attendees.
