Technology Applications

Bio-assay Area:

  • Studies of aquatic and terrestrial ecotoxicology.  Daphnia magna, algae, fish and bacteria, earthworms and plants.  Design of specific bio-assays on demand.
  • Ecotoxicological characterisation of hazardous waste (H Codes), contaminated soils, chemical compounds, biocides, leachates and industrial discharges.
  • Mutagenicity (Ames test), endocrine disruption and genotoxicity (UMUtest) in accordance with ISO/DIN and OECD standards.
  • Oral and dermal toxicity in rodents in accordance with OECD standards.

Water and aquatic ecosystems Area:

  • Determination of hydro-geomorphological indicators through habitat quality indexes:  biotic indices for phytoplankton, diatoms and benthic macro-invertebrates, zooplankton, macrophytes, ichthyofauna and riparian vegetation.
  • Determination of the ecological status of bodies of water in accordance with the Water Framework Directive and the State of Conservation of Community Interest Habitats of the Habitats Directive.
  • Design and environmental monitoring through biological and physic-chemical control networks.
